Appendix 4: Classroom Contract

Teachers and students are encouraged to sign a classroom contract to maintain respect and self-care for all learners throughout the unit.

Clauses

I understand that I will be learning about First Nations people their history and how it contributes to their current realities.

As I learn about their difficult truths, I will ensure I take care of my emotional, social, physical, and spiritual well-being and reach out to a school counsellor, the teacher, or close friends when necessary.

My conduct with remain respectful, appropriate, and honourable when visitors are welcomed into the classroom, as they will help me further understand and appreciate the realities of First Nations people.
